Our Organic Promise
As we begin our 39th season as an organic garden center and landscaping company, we strive to bring you the best plants for pollinators, as well as the safest and greatest organic fertilizers and products for your yard. We pride ourselves on bringing you many beautiful and unusual plants with a special focus on native plants. We are here to guide and teach you how to create a safe, organic oasis right in your own backyard.
A diverse selection of organically grown vegetable and herb plants for cool season growing will be available in April. Warm season edible plants will be available starting in mid May.
Check out our NEW BLOG at the top of this page, and our educational handouts for answers to many of your questions. We love to teach and will continue the blog throughout the season. Be sure to sign up for our weekly helpful newsletter too!
Plants will be sold this year for in-store sales only. Seeds, soils, books and gardening supplies will be sold both in person and online.
Come and GROW with us in 2022!

The April Food Garden
April is prime time for cool season crops. Not only can these edibles tolerate the cool nights and light frosts that are sure to occur in early spring, most of them NEED these conditions to thrive. Yes, the end of May is the ideal time to plant warm season crops like tomatoes, pepper, and eggplant seedlings and direct seed beans, squashes, cucumbers, and corn. BUT, you are completely missing out on a very important planting window if you don't plant in April.

Birds and Spring Belong Together
Here at Natureworks we are often asked to help customers select plants for the sole purpose of attracting birds to their yards. While I do have several "bird borders" filled with berried shrubs and evergreens for cover - it was in the lawn where I first spotted the Indigo Buntings as they feasted on dandelion seeds.

Growing Big Organic Onions
One of my absolute favorite things to grow from seed are onions! I seed a full tray of them every February and harvest big onions in mid July. It gets my hands in some soil in the winter and is a very rewarding crop to harvest and eat throughout the following winter! Here is a photo essay of the steps I do. Give onions a try!
