Mikado' turnips are just the coolest vegetable you can grow. I first ate them at my friend, the late Bill Duesing's house. I had no idea they were turnips. I thought they were radishes. He and his wife Suzanne served them raw. They were delicious and I was intrigued. I HAD to grow them. So I did. They are easy, a cool season crop that only takes 30 days direct seeding to harvest. I sow them a couple of time in the spring and then again in late summer for a fall crop.
