In my quest for superior sauce tomatoes, meet 'Opalka'. An heirloom from Poland, this meaty plum type tomato has a phenomenal fruit set and an great flavor with very few seeds. Indeterminate, 85 days from transplant to harvest begins. Tomatoes are a warm season crop and must be started ahead of time indoors in late March/early April. Plant them out after all danger of frost has past. Be sure to note whether they are determinate (bushy) or indeterminate (vining) and provide proper support. Natureworks recommends our heavy duty tomato cages that fold flat for storage.
