Hollyhocks are an old fashioned flower found in every cottage garden. This heirloom seed mixture contains colorful single flowers that will soar 6-8' tall. The first year these seeds will produce big, round leaves. Year two they will produce flowers. Let the seeds ripen in late summer and spread them where you want to establish a stand of hollyhocks in the future. They are so named because it was common to grow a big patch of hollyhocks outside the outhouse in the old days!
As Seed Savers Exchange explains: "This classic variety has graced outbuildings on Iowa farmsteads for over a century. Years ago, refined ladies just looked for the hollyhocks and didn’t have to ask where the outhouse was. Single blooms of white, light pink, magenta, and burgundy."
