This is an Italian heirloom beet named for a fishing town near Venice. 'Chioggia' beets are also one of the PRETTIEST root crops you can grow. They have red and white cocentric rings which makes anything you prepare with them a feast for the eyes and the stomach. The delicious and nutritious leaves are a lush green. Beets are a cool season crop. Direct sow seeds in April, as soon as the ground can be work. Continue to sow seeds until July or August. The tops are delicious and can be harvested at 35 days.
